Sam Harris on Meaning of Life

“What is the meaning of life? What is our purpose on earth?
These are some of the great, false questions of religion. We need not answer them—for they are badly posed—but we can live our answers all the same”. Sam Harris

These are great but not false questions. They are the questions everyman can and should ask himself. We do need answer them.
I’ll use contemporary science because the science is the only means bringing us possibly close to the reality.
My answer is:
Our life has deep and cosmic meaning: latest observations and SETI data say that probably we are the only life form in our observed Universe. We are the only (known to us) Universes matter attempt to get aware of itself. Probably we are the only complex life form in our galaxy and in our Universe. This makes grand significance and responsibility for our lives: we are the only bearers of conscious matter and we are responsible for preserving and further development of this life form. We are the only form who can and will (at least – must) transfer biological Homo sapiens to another more appropriate and more stable silicon or carbon environment.
This is great and holy challenge, possibility and responsibility. No bigger one is possible. If we will manage to pass the contemporary societies problem bottleneck, we, humans, will live forever. We will spread ourselves in our Universe and we will start manage the cosmological processes – create appropriate conditions for conscious matter limitless survival, create other universes. In short, Universe will get conscious and alive.
If we will manage to pass contemporary society problems we will be empowered to say that we have passed the humanities’ Rubicon.
