Universe Multiplication and the Cosmological Constant Problem

We propose a model describing two globally interacting universes containing particles with positive and negative energies respectively.  It is shown that the elementary particle physics inside each of the universes remains the same as if there were no other universe with particles with another sign of energy, whereas the effective cosmological constant in each of the universes vanishes automatically.

 SIGNIFICANCE OF NEGATIVE ENERGY STATES IN QUANTUM FIELD THEORY (1)

Abstract. We suppose that there are both particles with negative energies described by LW and particles with positive energies described by LF , LW and LF are independent of each other before quantization, dependent on each other after quantization and symmetric, and L = LW + LF . From this we present a new quantization method for QED. That the energy of the vacuum state is equal to zero is naturally obtained. Thus we can easily determine the cosmological constant according to data of astronomical observation, and it is possible to correct nonperturbational methods which depend on the energy of the ground state in quantum field theory.

QUANTUM FIELD THEORY WITHOUT DIVERGENCE A

On the basis a new conjecture, we present a new Lagrangian density and a new quantization method for QED, construct coupling operators and mass operators, derive scattering operators Sf and Sw which are dependent on each other and supplement new Feynman rules. Sf and Sw together determine a Fenman integral. Hence all Feynman integrals are convergent and it is unnecessary to introduce regularization and counterterms. That the energy of the vacuum state is equal to zero is naturally obtained. From this we can easily determine the cosmological constant according to data of astronomical observation, and it is possible to correct nonperturbational methods which depend on the energy of the ground state in quantum field theory. On the same basis as the new QED, we obtain naturally a new SU(2)XU(1) electroweak unified model whose L = LF+LW , here L is left-right symmetric. Thus the world is left-right symmetric in principle, but the part observed by us is asymmetric because LW and LF are all asymmetic. This model does not contain any unknown particle with a massive mass. A conjecture that there is repulsion or gravitation between the W-particles and the F-particles is presented. If the new interaction is gravitation, W-matter is the candidate for dark matter. If the new interaction is repulsion, W-matter is the origin of universe expansion.

Mechanism for Vanishing Zero-Point Energy

 In addition to the two standard solutions of the quantum field equations having the form e^{+/-(iwt-ikx)}, there exist two additional solutions of the form e^{+/-(iwt+ikx). By incorporating these latter solutions, deemed “supplemental solutions”, into the development of quantum field theory, one finds a simple and natural cancellation of terms that results in an energy VEV, and a cosmological constant, of zero. This fundamental, and previously unrecognized, inherent symmetry in quantum field theory shows promise for providing a resolution of the large vacuum energy problem, simply and directly, with little modification or extension to the extant mathematics of the theory. In certain scenarios, slight asymmetries could give rise to dark energy.

Negative energies and time reversal in Quantum Field Theory and General Relativity: The Dark Side of Gravity

Rehabilitation of negative energies in Quantum Field Theory and General Relativity is undertaken. The proposed link between negative energies, time reversal and the existence of two conjugated metrics opens the way to a new natural gravitational interaction mechanism between positive and negative energy fields. The usual Schwarzschild solution in vacuum gets modified at Post-Post-Newtonian order. A flat universe accelerating expansion phase is obtained naturally without resorting to a cosmological constant. In this more favorable context, classical and quantum instability issues should be reconsidered. Related theoretical issues along with phenomenological consequences are explored.
