The Great Debate – What is Life?

Roger Bingham (The Science Network): – “How you would define life?”

Criss McKey (NASA Ames Research Center): – “We don’t need a definition. We can recognize it by the molecules it leaves behind.”
This is not an answer of the scientist. Many different chemical reactions leave complicated and different molecules.
Life is self-organized system restricted from environment and characterized by exchange of mass and energy between itself and environment, and by creation of complexity and information. Imants Vilks
