Do we matter in the cosmos?

Although Carl Sagan said to them almost before a century, that “We are a way for the Universe to know itself”, they don’t know it, they don’t understand it, they write a ‘scientific’ papers about our insignificance and missing sense of … Continue reading

Continue reading

Continue reading

Carl Sagan – The Cosmic Perspective

There are not many words but there is a deep sense, possibility, duty and responsibility. And a future, if we will understand and accept it.

Without Poetry We are Dead: With It We Die Living

By Edward Curtin, February 15 2017 Most Americans dislike poetry, or at least are indifferent to it. That is probably an understatement. We live in an age of prose, of journalese, and advertising jingles. Poetry, the most directly indirect, mysterious, condensed, … Continue reading

Latvijas iekšējās drošības galvenais drauds

Jau pirms vairākiem gadiem rakstīju, ka noziegumu atklāšanā un izmeklēšanā un iztiesāšanā valda liela apjoma haoss, nenoteiktība un neskaidrības. 2016.gada februāra raidījumā “Tieša runa” sarunās apstiprinājās, ka tā pati situācija no gada uz gadu, desmitiem gadu nemainās vai mainās nenozīmīgi. … Continue reading

Helen Fisher: Technology hasn’t changed love. Here’s why

In our tech-driven, interconnected world, we’ve developed new ways and rules to court each other, but the fundamental principles of love have stayed the same, says anthropologist Helen Fisher. Our faster connections, she suggests, are actually leading to slower, more … Continue reading

A better way to talk about love

In love, we fall. We’re struck, we’re crushed, we swoon. We burn with passion. Love makes us crazy and makes us sick. Our hearts ache, and then they break. Talking about love in this way fundamentally shapes how we experience … Continue reading

Continue reading

Š.g. 16. jūlija žurnālā Ieva redaktore Inita Sila:  Kad es ieminos kaut ko par nāvi vai savām bēdām, apkārtējie tā kā novēršas, it kā es kaut ko nepiedienīgu runātu, jo to skaļi neapspriež. Nāve nez’ kāpēc ir kļuvusi par tabu … Continue reading

Dzīves mākslinieki

Mēs esam limbisko smadzeņu pārvaldīti, dominēti un pakļauti dzīvnieki. Tas nozīmē, ka mūsu rīcību galvenokārt, droši vien par 80-90 %, nosaka emociju piepildīšanas vajadzības. Lielākā daļa cilvēku rīkojas, to neapzinoties, sevi šāda liela laika mērogā nevērojot, nezinot, neapzinoties un nesaprotot. … Continue reading

“Permanent War” by Chris Hedges, excerpt from Death of the Liberal Class, Nation Books, 2010

Continue reading

Ziemassvētki

Man ar tiem Ziemassvētkiem ir tā, ka to milzīgas iekšējas harmonijas un tīrības sajūtu, kādu iepazinu bērnībā baznīcā, dzīves nezināšanas un neprašanas laikā esmu pazaudējis. Gandrīz. Kaut kur dziļi un reti vēl uzpeld. Un tad arī apzinos, ka tā bija … Continue reading
